Germany – once the leader in climate protection – is under pressure. The climate targets are being missed by politicians. Yet there are feasible approaches, especially in the industry. The 2019 Climate Protection Index shows: Germany now ranks 27th in an international comparison, compared to 8th in 2013, for example. Some large corporations and companies have long since stopped waiting for political action. They are taking action themselves. Especially in key sectors such as steel and chemicals, there are calls for a change of direction and a clear political course on the climate.
