The EU climate deal

ALL HOT AIR?

ZDF-zoom Reportage (2022)

The ‘EU Green Deal’ is “Europe’s man on the moon project”, announced Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Europe is to become the first “climate-neutral continent” by 2050.

As the largest industrialized country and the biggest CO2 emitter in the EU, Germany in particular should lead the way in climate protection. Already decided now: By the end of the decade, greenhouse gas emissions in Germany are to be reduced by 65% compared to 1990 levels.

Just hot air or achievable? The German economy is facing a gigantic transformation. ZDF-Zoom author Kersten Schüßler travels through the key sectors and asks industry, politics and people on the ground: Soon we are supposed to live CO2-neutral. How can we get our act together?
